Quote: Fantastic! ...Great examples Empty_Pockets and walk2dwater!
-thanks J-buck & Hokie!
Quote: 5 marks, I really like the cameo on this note
-I do too! Nice adds E-P!
Quote: I see numbers like "P101" or "P1a" on some descriptions of the note. What does it mean?
The P#s are also referred to as "Pick numbers" after Alfred Pick, the man who developed these handy codes to catalogue & make it easier for collectors to identify/value each World banknote. He published a catalogue which was later taken on by Krause publishers called the, Standard Catalogue of World Paper Money (or SCWPM for short). It is a huge tome but easily became dated & eventually folded (no longer published). Check this Wiki site entry below for more info on the SCWPM https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stand..._Paper_Money This is one of my favourite German notes which is P-63: Here is the entry for Germany, P-63 on the Banknote Museum BNM site: http://www.banknote.ws/COLLECTION/c.../GER0063.htm The BNM entry gives us date when the note was issued (4/11/15) & some data on the allegorical imagery. And here is the entry for Germany, P-63 on Numista catalogue: https://en.numista.com/203960 Numista actually gives us a lot more info/data on the banknote's front, back + translations of text, list of signatures, serial # data & even a pricing table. The SCWPM catalogue had little blurbs of data too but the pricing tables (what one would expect to pay for a note in circulated vs UNC condition) were dated the moment it was published & nearly useless. Both the BNM & Numista rely on volunteers to add/modify "accurate" data but Numista is a more recent & larger collaboration. Sometimes, however, one must be cautious about how accurate the data may be since it happens from volunteer contributions & some of these contributions may be inaccurate or misleading. Anyway, I have found both sites very helpful in keeping track of my collection (esp Numista).
I had a few large banknote orders at the end of 2025 but discovered some of the notes on my receipt were missing. I had to contact the seller in order to get a refund. So, I had a few refunds waiting for me (one on Paypal & another + balance on my CC). That is why I have had a few notes come in lately.
Here are the last three European items I picked up this past Month: From Bulgaria, I got this common 1997 P-110 1000 Leva: From the CR, I got this easy low denomination 100 Krona P-127 From Poland, I picked up this recently issued P-185b 50 Zlotys
I've decided to try my hand at sharing my latest banknote acquisitions on YouTube. Whether I should stick to my day job remains to be seen. But I will say it's a convenient way to cover all these banknotes. Let me know what you guys think!
Lots of pretty notes featured: I especially liked seeing all the UNC examples from Africa which I have been working on myself. The 5 Dalasis from The Gambia really caught my attention. https://en.numista.com/211298 Is that P-5 or P-9? I think I would like to get that note & that's all I was missing (the code #'s) after watching the video. Sometimes I really wanted to know more about a note you discussed but had no idea which version it was.

Yeah lately I've been focusing on African banknotes from the 1970s - 2000s. I've been following your advice and looking for notes with a higher NRI.

The Gambia 5 Dalasis is a P-9b. That's a great idea to add the Pick numbers to the video. I went back and added them to the description, but I will include them as text overlays in future videos. Thank you for the suggestion!

-You're welcome! I really find it difficult to critique someone's banknote videos b/c I hope they won't take it the wrong way! Often I have had negative reactions to past feedback (& I know they take some effort) so I am glad you saw that I meant well: in terms of helping your exposition clarifies any uncertainty. I really enjoyed seeing the notes you featured & do hope to see more (I subscribed & liked each video). There's some African series you put on my radar.
Good job on the new Tonga set 2nd video! I also like the name of your channel: History in your wallet. It is a great theme idea & I look forward to seeing more
There's some really great stuff in this thread! I haven't collected many notes (some here and there) but have recently caught the bug. The blue 1908 German 100 Mark was the gateway drug and now I'm hooked on notgeld
1908 Germany - 100 Mark - P#34:
1910 Germany - 1000 Mark - P#19 (Sequential Pair):
1919 Germany / Prussian Province of Westphalia / City of Bielefeld - 10 Pfennigs - Numista #226085
