I was at my coin dealer yesterday, and bought a Morgan.

Seemed to me a pretty good deal, but don't know for sure.

1879P, I would judge AU, some toning. Only problems are two tiny dings along the rim.

Cost was $17.

Good deal? Average? Waste of money?

Hi Gary

If the coin is AU as you think your deal is about average for this date and mint.

You could post pics you know ? Everyone likes to see the new coins, and maybe one of our VAM guys might see something interesting !!

its a rather common date so I will say the price was average also for a AU coin

Without seeing the coin, from the description given I would expect to pay about the same locally.
