I don't even know how this is possible! This is possibly the finest Lincoln Cent I've found seaching. This coin blew me away immediately. Just a beautiful, obverse rainbow toning on proof-like surfaces and almost completely hit free. It took a lot of effort to capture the rainbox toning with my camera. The pics aren't too bad, but they still don't tell the whole story.

Wow ..... in addition to all the lovely things you describe .... that cent appears to be hammered with a great strike on new dies ..... amazing details.

Great find ..... Congratulations!

Thad, that is beautiful. I find those late decade 1980's to be very poor in general. mushy dies, dirty planchets, weak strikes all make it hard to find descent examples. You have definitely found the exception to the rule.

Indeed Jim, the 80's Zincolns are generally horrible. I was actually more excited to find this coin than my MS-65 1999 WAM. Based on my experience, finding a conditional rarity coin like this is more difficult than finding a variety or error.

Not even in a roll! It was in my friends 25 year old change stash with about 20,000 other Lincolns.
