I had an interesting exchange at lunch today. As I started pull cash out of my wallet, my $8.40 sub sandwich was magically "discounted" to $8. I asked her "Eight dollars even?" and she said "The bank could not fill my order today." I wonder if a roll-searcher emptied that branch recently? This could be good news. Maybe we will finally get some 2009's in the area.

That's pretty funny. See we could make do if they stopped minting change altogether. :-)

I wonder if the conversation would have been the same if the sandwich were $8.51?

Lol...funny timing. I stopped at the local credit union today to get a box of pennies and nickels for our business. The lady didnt want to do it, but gave me a box of pennies and said she couldnt fill the order for nickels, not even a handfull of rolls. Odd...

I do have to wonder how she was handling the not-so-regular customers. She might have had some change and was just conserving it where she could.

well, I've noticed that the banks do not carry as much change as they used to.....sometimes I go around asking for nickels and halves, and you don't expect much halves to be fund, but abt half the time they can only give me several rolls of nickels b/c they just don't have them - not even in the vault.

I walked into a bank last Thursday looking for halves and they were out of nickels too. But they had just bagged up all the customer rolls of all denominations and were readying to send it out. I didn't think to ask at the time, but now after a week, I really wish I had bought it all. Does anyone know how often the banks send out the customer wrapped change?

Here in Eastern North Carolina they send out their excess on a weekly basis, as long as it is at least a certain $ amount.

Thanks Tim. That's exactly what I wanted to hear.
Off to the bank I go.
