I found this 1945-2005 Canada 5-cent 60Th Anniversary of the Victory in Europe Brilliant Uncirculated with a double strike of the Victory V and flame smaller. Couldn't believe it the 5 cent is flawless and have this double strike of the flame V smaller in wrong direction . Sorry for poor pictures it is way more beautiful in real believe me. What do you think of this? is it worth something? let me know I'm so exited ! Edited by SilverMaple 02/22/2010 4:28 pm

A double strike like that sounds very uncommon, maybe the folks in the Canadian varities forum might be able to help with value.
I am very fond of the 2005 victory nickel, since it is the only business strike coin that commerates another Canadian coin, my favorite nickel (i.e the original 1945 victory nickel)

This looks like lamination (a piece of the metal has fallen off?). If this is the case, then based on the few similar coins I sold I'd say this one could fetch around $15 on ebay.

This isn't a piece fallen off. the pictures are not that good sorry but you clearly see is the same design as the V with flamme but smaller.

Can you take some more pictures out of the 2x2 please. Looks more like a second coin(planchett) has been pushed in to the main coin.

If we can prove it is a brockage......three figures.

Maybe it's a struck through. Something came between the die and the planchet? If so it will have a small premium. John1

None of the above causes explain why the second image of the V and flame is smaller than the regular. If it happened during minting, surely it would be the same size? Where are all the experts?

Here I posted new picture of the coin and the reason why it is smaller than the original V and flame is : the double is just the half of the original design .. if you look closer they are no flame on the second V.
Sorry for the light its the best I could get.its sad cause in real this coin is absolutely gorgeous! even with the error.

Nancy, that is why I asked for more pics before I said anything authenticity wise......looks like the bottom 50% of the "V" no rim damage. Now (With this pic) I am very skeptical.

Don't know much _aboot_ Canadian coins but I would be iffy on the fact that the rim doesn't seem to be involved.I would say that someone has put something there and hit it really hard because the top of the indentation isn't as hard as the rest of the design and the rim seems to be un-involved.JMO.A mallet and a piece of hardwood.
