coinyoungsta Valued Member United States 280 Posts	Posted 02/23/2010 6:00 pm i have had this coin for a couple years, bought it at an estate sale for $5 it was in a ANACS holder but I got my dad to take it out for me, that was when I didn't know how to take them out, well he sorta cut the paper up with the grade and all, I still have it but I can barley read it with all the cut, I graded it G-6 but I wanted a second opinion on it,so G-4 or G-6. I tried not to scan this one so I was wondering how my photo was. Report this Post to the Staff

For a G-6 grade I'd want to see a bit more central detail on the obverse, with a trace of LIBERTY visible, and complete rims on both sides. The reverse is losing rim definition around the 11:00 position. The fine hairline scratches visible on the obverse are acceptable at this level of wear and should not constitute "damage". I think your photos are plenty good enough for grading. The 1901-S is a much better date and is pricey in all grades. I'd guess your coin would be valued in the neighborhood of $50. I took a look at the coin and I can barley see the scratches across the face on the obverse and the only rim damage I can see it a super tiny chip on the reverse also the reverse rim looks better in hand. so do you think its worth $90, I was thinking around $80-$85 but the dealer says more so opinion Report this Post to the Staff

I believe this would make it into a problem free PCGS holder hypothetically speaking. CDN ask is $65 G and $110 VG. I would say $85-90 would be fair. swcoin.ecrater.com Report this Post to the Staff
rkp Valued Member United States 254 Posts	Posted 02/27/2010 9:57 pm I agree with Jaobler, this is a G-4 coin. There is not enough detail on the wreath to warrant a G-6. Take a look at the PCGS photograde: http://www.pcgs.com/Photograde/#/Barber10/Grades . This closely matches up with the G-4 example. The fact that the reverse rim is not full (on an issue which usually comes well struck) would also preclude a G-6 grade. All that said, this is still a nice coin for a semi-key date.
