Need some help - just got a 1986 US penny with a tiny 3-leaf clover etched above the date. Sorry don't have a pic yet. Anyone familiar with this?

Funny, afcop13 just posted an '86 with a clover on it. Does it look like this?

Who knows? Boredom, souvenirs, millions of unknown reasons. Some people just don't respect coins like we do, I guess. My boss brought in some coins for me to look at one day, and he had a beautiful Wheat cent (common year, can't remember) but it had (I think) the free mason symbol on it. I'll see if I can get him to bring it in and get a pic of it. Bummed me out, though. It was a really nice coin.
