Quote: Thanks Thad. So you think the 1803 doesn't need any treatment? Probably not, I'm not seeing much that can be done for that coin. On the other hand, if you buy some to treat the other coin, it's certainly not going to hurt to try it on the 1803. If you don't like it for any reason, simply rinse the coin with water and let it dry.

I finally got around to doing some tests and taking some photos. Now I have to prepare them for forum consumption. I hope to have something to show the community later today.

Looks like some improvment on both coins. What methods did you use and how long for each coin? What are your general impressions? How do you think the product did on each coin? Thanks!

These two I used a micro-fiber towel and rubbed the product onto the coins. The pictures do not show the difference that I see in hand. I had some others I was going to post, but the differences do not show in the photographs at all. My next tests involve some cents with heavy verdigris. There is one particular coin that I had soaked for two days. I have the before photo, but either lost or actually did not take the after photo.

It has not been easy at casa de Jbuck this week. I still need to take the after photo, but I will tease you with the before shots since I do have them... Do you want to speculate about the outcome?

Obverse - Most of the green will be gone, but the thick stuff might persist. It will turn black after reacting with ReAcT2™. The toothpick method might work on those few thick spots that are left. The large black stained area will remain but it should be more subtle.
Reverse - Should be no problems, verdigris appears to be light, complete removal.
Surface on both sides will be improved. The coin will look much better.
.....my guesstimate!

Sorry! I have relatives visiting this week, seriously cutting into my already limited free time. When I started to attach the camera to the tri-pod last night I got that "look" from the better half. Where did all that laundry come from? Maybe tonight. Maybe.
