Hmm that is on copper though. Would you agree that it may be different on Silver or nickel. I have a Clad Kennedy proof I'm gonna try this on also to remove the haze. Also, I would imagine that the cause of the haze could play a factor. is it calcium or chloride haze? perhaps pvc damage mixed with moisture. I dunno, just speculating.

We may never know until someone tries it. I am not going to recommend it, but if you have one that you do not mind sacrificing, then that is your call.

The result probably won't be any different on other metals. The product was never designed for removal of haze from proof coins. That job is best left to the acid-thiourea dips on the market.

2000 WAM, MS-63/64 RD conservation. This is as good as it's going to get. Soaked for 3 hours and rubbed hard with a toothpick for about 3 minutes. Any more and the surface would be damaged and pits would be exposed. I'm convinced there's no copper left under this spot.

I promised more results so here you are... I finally got my lighting the way I like it.. for now... I left a light covering of VC on each side over night. The stuff left on the reverse of this one after treatment isn't verdigris or at least it doesn't appear to be. Looks like some toning to me.

I agree Thad. My favorite is the second one. It looks like a totally different coin.
If you think you can use the photos, please feel free. I'm going to try it on some silver next.

Yea, the second coin under went a huge improvement! I'm surprized they came out this good using only soaking. They looked like they would need some toothpicking.
Thanks for letting me use the pictures.

Here's one for ya Thad... This one cost me $.04 (I noticed it sitting atop a $4.00 bag of wheats, and bought it...) Is it worth saving? From what I see, it's already been cleaned...is it worth preserving?

A VDB is always worth preserving!

Scotty - That VDB would be greatly improved by VC. The verdigris is new and pretty light. You'd probably see close to 100% removal. Looks to be at least an EF coin, probably AU. As much as you search you should have a bottle of VC on your desk.

Nice results! Did you try a toothpick on the stubborn stuff? Do you mind if I use your pictures? Thanks for posting!
