Ok I'm a newbie, for some reason I can't post a pic on here yet. I need so many posts to email and post pics, the system keeps kicking me back when I try. Ok here's a better description on the OBVERSE The words and letters appears like this.. starting at 12 o'clock, DEL.GRATIA. 1803 CAROLUS.IIII on the REVERSE from 1 o'clock, .HISPAN. ET IND. REX. M with a o above the M. 8r. F.T. This ebay auction #320002014392 has the same look as mine except after the word REX my letters are M o on top of M and 8r F.T. check out pic on ebay auction #320002014392. It is worth way more than $3 some forum member stated in my last thread. thanks Coin Hog

CoinHog, there is no minimum requirement for posting pics. If you are having difficulty, please email me at susan@coincommunity.com. Hopefully, we'll be able to get this straightened out.

Let's see if we can get some pics here. These are pics from the auction number you stated:

This is a Peru coin: note the LIMAE mintmark at 9 o'clock on the pillar side. I assume your coin is different, as you say it's Mo (Mexico City) mintmark and FT mintmaster's initials.

Catalogue value for an 1803 Mo FT 8 reales, in VF condition, is $50, according to Krause (19th century, 4th ed, p.897).

Be aware that there are plenty of fake Spanish dollars around, both contemporary counterfeits (made back in the 1800's) and modern forgeries (often made in China). Check the edge; all but the best fakes get the edge wrong. It should be a "necklace-like" pattern of alternating circles and squares.

If you can post pic of yours (front, back and edge), we can offer an opinion as to authenticity. Swamperbob is the expert when it comes to fake Mexicans...
