A few question about what I think to be the most beautiful coin ever:

1. how many were minted?

2. what is the survival rate?

3. what are its specs?

4. how much it worth currently?

alternatively, can someone please post a link to a site listing this info?

thanks for your time

If you referring to the old Victoria coins, I believe there were few variations, silver, gold, proof, and probably way more.

I thought the 1836(?) gold 5 ponds was the only one with that design and nickname

I think the one you are talking about is the 1839.. but I don't have any answers to your questions about it. This link has some history and pictures (one of a silver striking): http://www.spink.com/news/current_n...e%20Lion.asp

There have more recent ones made with elements of the same design: http://www.pandaamerica.com/details...p=1&categ=10

Victoria ascended in 1837 and the "Una" was issued in 1839. It was only a part of cased proof sets, the mintage figures are not exactly known but are very low. There's a number of varieties as well as similar pieces struck in various metals. Those are regarded as patterns, particularly pattern crowns as the coin bears no mark of value.
