Hi Rabbit, I don't understand what you mean about coinstar. Are you suggesting the machines keep the 2006 magnetic cents?

Hi Redlock, I agree with your comment however there are some out there as I do have one. There was a frienzy for 2006 magnetic pennies with no mint mark and no P composition. These are selling for about 3- 4hundred a piece. Even more scarce is the 2006P Non magnetic cent. The charlton Guide has them listed as being worth between 5-8 hundred. They are so scarce that Steven Bromberg, Colonial Acres, J&M and other large dealers have yet to see any of them. I guess this coin is somewhat of a moderm day anomaly having the P compositon and being non magnetic. It is such a neat coin. I cant find anyone to help me out with determining a price. They all tell me to put it to auction.

Hi redlock, there is a rumour that a 2006p non-magnetic exists, however I haven't run across anyone who actually has one yet. 2006 has so many varieties that I suspect people are just putting out ALL possibilities on their lists in the hopes of finding them. Perhaps some non-magnetic planchets made it into the 2006p press by mistake however. This is what happened with the 2006 magnetic that darryl is speaking about.

I have found only 2 myself,in the last 2 years! (I couldn't grade a coin if you paid me !) BUT I would guess in the low MS or High UNC One was found while roll searching. The other in circulation. I have only 1 2006P magnetic. Have never seen a non-mag.

The "P" on all Canadian cents has nothing to do with the composition of the coin, but refers to plated. The cores are either steel (magnetic) or zinc (non magnetic) and plated in copper.

All the plated Steel cents 1999 - 2006 are marked with a p. P=steel except for rarities struck on wrong Planchet.
