I was at a coin show this last Sunday and was looking for the elusive 2010 Lincoln Shield penny. Found a dealer selling them for a dollar each. Well a dollar each sounded steep so I walked on by. So I left the show "Penny less", that is until the next day while waiting in line at the grocery stores post office. I happen to notice in the take one - leave one penny tray there it was my elusive 2010 Lincoln Shield penny. So I left a penny and toke my prize from the tray. That penny now resides in a 2 X 2 flip. All for the price of one penny, a much better price in my eyes!

as crazy as this sounds... I found one in my washing machine today... I don't remember getting one in change, maybe the roomie lost it... i'd go ask him now, but he's snoring - LOL got a 2010 Millard Fillmore dollar out of the change machine at work yesterday, dropped it and it rolled under the machine, scratched it all to heck trying to get it.. dang change machine's been full of Sac's and SBA's - 10+ hours a day, this was # 8 with 4-6 more to go - I enjoy getting cool coins, but that one ended up buying me a coke

Have gotten 3 boxes + 20 rolls of them in the past few weeks. They are common around here nowdays. Also found a few in change that I got back using the self checkout at Home Depot. Put the boxes up on ebay and sold one for almost double face.

Great cent finds! I am still waiting to see one in change. Surprisingly, I am still seeing a lot of fresh 2007 and 2008 cents in my area. The 2009 cents are very rare as well, mostly LP1 and LP2 when I see them.

I have gotten one in change. I have a question - Is this the new cent forever now? like no more LMC?

@ needgames4lyfe: Yep, no more memorial cents, the shield one cent piece is the new Zincoln.

That is correct, this is the new permanent design. However, I feel very strongly that the cent will end as a circulating denomination in the next five years. If this happens, I suspect they could survive in the mint and proof sets like the non-circulating Kennedy half dollar.

That definitely is a great design. Someone should come up to Toronto and spend a few up here, maybe I'll get lucky and find one :)

I'll take Canuck designs and gold coinage anytime over US coinage. It's beautiful. btw I live in the US.

I think the mint is too big on this "change the reverse, or even obverse, to get people to collect coins" kick to let the shield last 50 years. I agree with jbuck that I don't see the cent lasting 50 more years (though I think 5 years is too soon), but if it lasts for a while longer expect to see different reverse designs.
