That is a very attractive problem free circulated type 1! I would grade it F-15. Very close to VF, just a bit too much rub on the top of the date.

I would probably bump it to VF due to the shield detail and known issues with the raised dates wearing quickly. On the head, the separation between hair and liberty cap can still be made out as well. The rims on both sides are pretty strong. There is pretty good rub on the back, and I'd like to see more left wing detail, but the diagnostics might still pull that VF20. I have one that is a twin to this coin......

Given the generally strong strikes of the 1917 Type 1 I agree with Johnny and give it a F-15.

There is nothing to worry about, since that is the natural wear pattern of this type. The coin is very clean overall( I mean that in a good way), and is the perfect example of a strong Fine.
