Today while taking advantage of the free bike day on Governors Island NYC harbor I looked down during our picnic lunch and found this laying in the grass.
A 2010 P Nickel in pretty good condition. Though it seems to have 4 strange things going on, some type of metal lump on M in Monticello, same problem on S in cents, a tear near his left eye facing the coin and the front and back seem rotated if the bottom of monticello and the date 2010 should be on the same plane.
Any observations, are these errors of some kind or is this normal for nickels, I admit to no understanding of nickels at all. thanks in advance.
It took a while but here are some photos of the rotation, I thought it was more but it appears to be only 4 degrees, which still seems a bit much considering modern machines.
Are die chips considered a type of error or will that only become apparent over time? thanks (by the way the third picture shows the view where this was found)
