my area seems to be dry in terms of finding older bills in circulation. That said, I did receive a non-colorized Series 2006 $5.00 bill today while making a small cash withdrawal at Bank of America.
It's not in great shape, but I guess it's something

1995 $1 and 2003A in near uncirculated condition. I asked for some old 5's, but there were none among a few hundred dollars worth. The bank that I get the good stuff from isn't open when I'm out of work and I'm stuck for now...

Interesting day today.......one of my co-workers was talking to a friend of hers who was showing her a $100 bill that she said a client of hers gave her, and the bank would not take it because they ran the pen on it and said it was fake. I looked at it and told her they were full of sh*t. It's a 1950-C $100 bill, E-A block, in decent condition. I immediately gave her 5 20's and now it's mine!
She asked why the bank pen would make it look fake and I told her the paper was prob diff than what they use now.......although I don't know if that's true or not. Does anyone else know? apparently they don't teach anyone at the bank a darn thing any more.

It is true. (Correct me if I'm wrong here) The printing process was different in that the paper was wet/damp when the printing was done. It even says on the pens that it won't work on currency series 1950 or older... sigh... You'd think out of everyone bank tellers should know these things.

Just went to the bank and had the teller kindly look through a few straps of $5 bills,$10 bills and $20 bills. Total bills scored were three $20's and three $10's. I also got a strap ($100)of $1 bills, most were 2009. However, I did find a unique bill that I'll see if I can post a picture of soon and get an opinion about.
Pics coming soon...

I have a friend at the bank who knows I collect stuff and usually saves interesting things for me. A few years back, he said he had some "really neat" stuff to show me. When I asked what, he said, "A Wheat cent..." "Ohh...kay..." "... and a Mercury dime ..." "Well, that's nice - I'll buy that." "... and some $2 bills." "Show me." He proceeded to pull out TWO PACKS of bills - one was 1976 $2 FRNs (mostly CU, several consecutive runs), but the other consisted of 1928F, 1953, 1953A, 1953B, 1953C, 1963, and 1963A $2 red-seal U.S. Notes! Some were "love notes" (one or more corners torn off), but some were uncirculated, with an occasional star note and one nearly consecutively-numbered CU pair (off by one)! He said some lady brought them in earlier that day to deposit. Needless to say, I left the bank with a couple of packs of U.S. paper.

Here are the pictures The last three on the upper-right serial number is high. I don't know if it's common or not. Here are the other bills too. (I also found a $1 standard repeater #26692669) The top two twenties are 2001. The middle ten is 1999 and the twenty is 1996 The bottom two tens are 2003.

You guys are lucky in the States! I got a Merlyn Lowther ten pound note from an ATM yesterday - it dates back to around 2004 and is about the oldest banknote you can now find in circulation in England!
Sometime in the mid-late 1980s I remember getting a 1950 US $20 bill among my tips as a tour guide, but I couldn't afford to keep it at the time!

Hey Wheathunter, I would keep the top right 20 since it's practically uncirculated and you don't see the K series that often. I'm not as big on getting old bills, but if the tellers have any saved, then I will happily take them off their hands.

I picked up a 1974 $10 today, and it looks like it's been in someone's collection for the last 40 years, it's almost uncirculated in my opinion!
