I received a Series 1993 $50 from a bank a few days ago. It had seen some circulation, so I spent it.

Just wondering: when people say they receive old bills in change, does that mean it's from a smaller purchase made with a 50 or 100 dollar bill? I don't know if it's me, but that's just what I think since I rarely use bills higher than 20 for purchases. BTW, my bank has some old bills saved for me, I'm just waiting for the chance to get out there.

I think it would have to be. I do not know any places that still let you write checks for purchases and cash back; if they even take a check. Who still uses checks?

I saw a guy make an 80 dollar purchase at the grocery store, and he wrote a check out. Luckily I was the only one behind him, as I'm sure other people would've cared more than I did about the situation.

A teller friend of mine saved for me a pretty nice Series 1985 $100, and I withdrew it from the bank.

I had a dream where I looked through my dads change at a restaurant and he got back a bunch of various CRISP old bills. Found those in dream circulation though.

Well, it can become a reality if you inform the tellers at your bank that you look for old bills, and they'll probably save them for you.

By the way, I stopped at the bank tonight to pick up the old bills that were saved for me, and here's what I got:

$10 Series 1977 (New addition)
$20 Series 1981A (Upgrade- this one was almost uncirculated and didn't have any writing on it)
$20 Series 1985
$20 Series 1990

The latter two are going back to the bank (eventually, I won't return them since it's rude) since they are circulated, but not as heavily as the other bills the tellers had so I said they could send them off with the mutilated bills if they wanted to.

This was not recent but being new here I wanted to share my favorite find. This was spent by a gentlemen at a casino I worked at during high school when I was a cashier at the buffet.

I need to start asking my bank if they can give me old bills.
