George III 3-P 1763 Fw? - Coin Community Forum

malibu Valued Member Canada 304 Posts	Posted 08/08/2010 1:38 pm can anyone help with this coin, George III silver 3 pence 1763 stamped "F - W" on the reverse? You can just make out a second "F" above the F, possibly a mistake. What did the "FW" stand for and is there any research on this? Report this Post to the Staff

I have one of these and I have no sign of writing on it. Also you can see where they miss scraped on the bottom right of the W. Report this Post to the Staff

It would have had to have been someone with a steady hand and good eye to do such a neat job on a tiny coin like a threepence.
