Came across this while roll searching. Any ideas?

These bumps are by the wing pictured. They also run from "STATES to the 'I' in "AMERICA"

Die wear. They start out as a dot and continue to get worse with age. Kind of like wrinkles on us. The older we get the more pronounced they are. LOL

Well that is interesting. I have never seen a coin like this before so I was curious. I would of never guessed die wear.

As always, your knowledge is greatly admired.

Struck with a rusted & pitted die. My opinion.

Just a little acne. Try rubbing a little Proactiv on it. Consult a doctor if not clear after a week.

Here are a few more pics...

MorgansRmine - that was my first thought, kind of looks like the rusted/pitted Morgan VAMs

KisNap - would that be considered cleaning a coin?

I agree with the "rusted die" theory. Even though the mint polishes rusted dies, the rust in the deepest recess's of the die leave small pit marks or holes which causes the markings to be raised on the coin. Especially noticed in the legend, date and moto portion as these are the deepest points in the die.

The only problem with that theory is that the fields (Where the die wear is showing) is on the outside of the die. If the die were polished, the fields would be the only area that would be buffed. The devices are deeper into the die and the polishing would not affect that part, just the fields. Die flow/wear always flows to the rims.
