Great coin and photos, and I stand by an AU-55 minimum grade. My only $3 gold piece is PCGS graded as AU-53 and this coin has significantly less wear. Looks genuine but it really needs authentication/grading by PCGS, NGC, or ANACS. Please post an update if/when you send it in!

What are these things selling for in AU-55 or even MS-60?

and, how much gold does it contain?

I really like the first set of photos posted above. It appears genuine and looks AU55 to me. It does have a lightly wiped look in the fields, but I'd hope it would grade problem-free.

Greysheet prices are $1,675 in AU50 and $2,700 in MS60. $3 gold pieces contain 0.145 troy ounces of pure gold.

Very well struck. I could see it going 58 detail wise, but with 55 luster.

Exceptional looking coin very little trace of wear relative to AU 53 - AU 55 $3 Golds that I have seen at auction. Hair tends to be worn down on those coins whereas it is very clean on this one.

The photograph compares more favorably to AU-58 coins which go for about $2800 at auction. Nice pick up if genuine!

UPDATE: I submitted this coin to PCGS for pattiewhack and the grade posted tonight.
