Went through $800 in CWR today and found one 1964. Also found a highly worn Buffalo nickel and an oddity.

I found a 1999 P which looks completely silver. There is no sign of copper anywhere on the piece including the edge. Seeing it is now an S mint mark, I knew it couldn't be silver. The weight confirmed it. So, I am thinking this one came from a sealed mint pack or the like.

BTW, I so dislike Canadian quarters when roll searching! :)

It could be silver plated, from a third party marketed "collector's" set.

Yes, plating does seem to be the most logical explanation.

So I go into my dump to take some change in a mix of quarters and nickels and I always check the little change tray they have laying out to see if I spot any silver and low and behold I see a silver quarter rim starring right back at me...so I kindly ask if I could have 3 dollars in quarters making sure I got that one and she kind of gave me a weird look as I just deposited some quarters but just laughed and said here ya go...get into the car and bam 1957 silver quarter ...i was just glad it was not a canadian....im sure this has happened to people before but it was my first silver quarter found in any change or CRH....and its my 100th post what do ya know must be my lucky day

I know this doesn't quite fit here, but I received a bright 1964 quarter exchanging a dollar to play a game of pool
