I cracked my first box of quarters this weekend looking to fill some holes in my albums. Here are some of the numbers for the more interesting quarters. I live in Texas so my boxes are comprised largely of D mint marks, and I get my boxes from Bank of America. The teller was surprised that I wanted a whole box of quarters and asked what I was going to do with them.

Silver - 0
76D - 4
76 - 4
09D D.C. - 5
09D Puerto Rico - 3
09D American Samoa - 2
09D Guam - 1
10D Mount Hood - 3
10P Gettysburg - 2
10D Yosemite - 2
10D Yellowstone - 1
10D Grand Canyon - 1
11D Vicksburg - 5
11D Glacier - 3
11P Chickasaw - 1
11D Chickasaw - 2
11D Olympic - 1
12D Hawaii - 5
12D El Yunque - 4
12P El Yunque - 1
12D Chaco Culture - 5
12P Chaco Culture - 1
12D Denali - 55
13D White Mountain - 9

Good stuff. Of course I would like to have gotten some silver but I'm not surprised that I didn't. Not sure how often I'll plop down $500 for a box of quarters, but it is fun to go through them while watching an NBA playoff game.

Searched 2 bags of quarters. Bag #1 had a 1964-D. Bag #2 had a nice 2009 Guam Proof and a 1969-S Proof. Not bad considering quarters almost always disappoint me.

My goal was to find one silver quarter this year and it took me 13 boxes to finally find one. It's a 1957. It seems stupid but silver quarters are FUN to find! I also found two proofs, one Panama quarter, one Belize quarter, 12-15 Canadians, and one US cent?!?

BernieZ, Canadian quarters made silver up to '67, in that year they did some at 80% and then 50%. In '68 they did 50% and then stopped half way through the year. From then on they stopped producing silver for circulation coins.

In canada it's easy to tell if it's silver as anything not silver is magnetic. In terms of differentiating the 50 vs 80 percent silvers not so much...it's just widely accepted the '67's are averaged out.

I haven't found any good quarter finds. I went through a box worth. The tellers at my small bank can't stand me cause they say it costs them money to ship the coins to the bank. I was a bit upset about this because they said they prefer to give them to business owners and I said coin selling and collecting is a business when someone buys your coins. Anyway I go to another branch location now and it's better no back talk :-) The lady at the first bank branch was so dumb that she thought all the coins in the rolls were new from the mint. I just stopped talking to that banker. I hope to get more quarter rolls to search in but I haven't had time to go to the bank in a bit.

Folks-

It's not often the banks I visit have rolls of new coins so, inspired by reading these threads, I picked up one "normal" roll of quarters, nickels and cents the other day. Apart from a few State Quarters I was missing (yes, in one roll!), I found this novelty:

Quarter-Roll-Searching

Quarter-Roll-Searching

The golden luster doesn't show very well in the scan, but it looks like it was electroplated with some sort of yellow metal (gold?). I'm not sure if it was part of the process, but there's a punch mark right in the center, making the eagle appear to have an "outie" belly button (or worse).

Not valuable at all, but a "fun", curious find nonethless...

cheers,
tbg
