im going to throw this out there...
i am somewhat of an entrepreneur, and recently had the idea of picking up some MS grade half dollars for a lot less than what they should be.
what I want to do is to offer them to CCF members for a lot less as well.
the idea that I had in mind was getting dates from you guys, CCF members, and I would go down to my local shop, pick out the best ones I could find of those years, and offer them to you for a fantastic price.
i havent worked out all the details yet, but the basic idea is there.
let me know what you guys think.
i realize though that it could become problematic when chosing the coins, whether they are to the liking of the person buying them; they dont have that luxury of picking out the coins themselves. Well, if I were given a list of dates, I could pick up a few, post pics and if you liked any of them, we had a deal, if not, I would just sell them

Sounds good in theory, but as you mentioned when it comes to coins in the numismatic sense, it can be tough to match up a buyer with the coin. But if you have spare cash and are ok with coins sitting there for a long time waiting for a buyer, then I say go for it. I've made money cherry picking underpriced coins from shops and shows so there is definitely money to be made. Good luck.

Sounds like you could make a profit just selling them so I suggest doing just that. The problem I see with your suggestion is just what you sort of mentioned. On a coin forum you run into Numismatic type of people that usually want to pick out their own coins. Would be difficult to say get me a xxxx D one and you post a photo of one that I really don't want. Then what? Your stuck with it? Can you return that one? Hold it for a future buyer? Next would always be the postage and/or insurance is sending one coin which in some instances would be what the coin is worth. Does that local shop have a web site? If not why not help them make one? Then we all could check out their inventory and choose ourselves. Still all in all sounds like a OK idea. Hope it works out for you.

49d,52s,53,60d, and 61d. That's what I need to finish my set. I believe I can get 60d and 61d for $10-$12 in BU. The other 3,I don't know but I'm always looking for a deal. If you get any of these in unc. or the tougher years in AU maybe we can do business.

If the price is right, you won't have any problem finding buyers.
Of course, you'll also run into the full bell people, too. Is that something you are going to target, or just nice looking Franklins?

I think you should first work out how you plan to obtain coins at a less than "fantastic price" from the local shop.

I would like to see what you could get me regarding a Mint State 49S, 52S and 53S. These are what I need to finish my set. Therefore, I hope your idea works out.

If you can cherry pick MS Franklins under melt I say buy all you can.
Did you check whether South Park raised prices in their catalog based on melt? A lot of the later years were only slightly above current melt in MS.
I was kind of amazed Silvertowne is selling 2010 silver proof Kennedys for $11.
I need a 53D.

southpark did raise their prices.. id be paying $15 for an avg circulated franklin, and thats with shipping..
im going to stick with cherry picking..
i will take all of these dates down and see what I can find.. I need them all as well, so even if you guys dont buy from me, id sell them anyway...
what I think I will do is go in, see what hes offering, then report back and see what you all think. and if I can cherry pick a great MS, we can work out a fair deal

I'd be interested in any Franklin, any condition, any date; I don't have any Franklins so I'd like one for my collection.

Its always good to cherry pick from the dealers you usually get higher grade kennedys + franklins (mostly 60's) for spot. I have 3 rolls of high grade franklins I picked up around aug for melt and it looks like its paying off if I sell but I'm not
