Very sporadic checker of coinstar machines, but have found a silver or two in the past, plus a fair amount of Canadian change. Last night got a silver 1965 Canada dime, steel Canada dime, 1974 Canada cent for the copper jar, a dirty nickel that easily cleaned and is my pocket to be used, and an XF 1959 Iceland 1 Krona, which is actually quite a pretty coin! Gotta go back to that Tops Market!

I used to run the coin star bins through counting machines where I worked. Ikes, Morgan, and Peace dollars were not uncommon in the bins, along with tons of wheat pennies, a few wartime nickels. At first one could just trade out for the good stuff, but coinstar must have learned of the extra income they were missing out on so now they require all reject stuff from the bins to be bagged and sent to them. Sad.

today, on the way back from our vacation we stopped off at a Walmart off the freeway to go to the bathroom. On the way out I check coinstar reject slot just for fun. And out I pulled a nasty corroded 1983-D penny and this

Nice find. My best Coinstar find was a 1905-O dime.

This weekend's finds. The 5 pence on Friday and the 10 centavos today. Both about the size of a dime and neither worth as much as a dime, but fun finds nevertheless.

A few days a go, while depositing check at the atm in a grocery store, which has the coinstar machine next to it.... I picked up 1 quarter, 2 dimes, and about 8 cents.... out of 2 dimes, one of them is silver. This had been a long time since the last time I've found anything at coinstar.

This week's finds. Three things on three different days and two different machines. The NYC Subway token was last sold sometime in the 1990's. I forget what the last fare for which a token was valid, but it certainly was under $2.00. I think the other token was (still is?) for a Times Square peep show place. I've never been in the place and don't know if it still exists so I have no idea what it was originally sold for. Someone traveled to Cuba. At first I thought it was a 1954 which would have been kind of cool, but 1994 is boring.

This week's haul. One silver. First in awhile. Hits on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Today it was my wife who found all the Caribbean coins.

You save 1965 quarters? They made almost 2 billion of them, and I see them every day at work. Sometimes I'll pull 2 or 3 out of a single roll. If you collect these, I'll stick them back and we can do some trading.

The tokens and foreign coins go into a big jar and the silver gets put away in a tube. But the common coins were part of the total haul which was pretty good for any one week. Not spectacular, but sometimes I go a couple of months at a time without anything.
