My oldest United States coin in my collection would be I believe an 1825 Capped Bust half dollar. There could be something older that I am not aware of but I don't think so. I enjoyed seeing all of your oldest coins fellow forum members.

I am glad I initiated this thread. It gives everyone into U.S. coins a chance to trumpet their own little gems.

This is my new favorite numismatic holding. The US Mint began operation on March 1st, 1793 and this Sheldon 4 (Crosby 4-C) cent was minted no later than March 12th, 1793 from what I've read. Of course, I'd like an S-1, but for now this will do nicely. This is what it looks like in hand. It is almost a travesty to post these, but in order to see the AG3 details of the coin, you also have to see every nick and gouge glaring back at you. Here are the details. The top half of the date is readable in the right light, as is most of UNITED STATES and AMERICA. It is discernible as obverse 4 from the period after LIBERTY on the obverse. Thank you all for your support and assistance.

1916 is common, unless it's a proof, in which case it's hundreds of time scarcer than the svdb.
