Can anyone else see a relationship to near S and far S also known as date near rim and date far from rim and the new far 2?

My certified 1932 said "date near rim, 2 far from leaf" on the cccs holder. It was a "near S"
That in mind will a far S certify as "date far from rim 2 near leaf"
Are all near rim concave field far 2's?

I do not use the photos in Charlton for near and far S, they don't look right to me.

I have a 1936 near S and far S and the 6 is higher and lower.

Please see page 6 for date near rim (near S)
Please see page 4 for date far from rim (far S)

"S" near rim = date near rim

Bm0ney, sounds like the beginning of a proper die study.... start hoarding and studying the 1932 5-cent pieces, to see if you can figure out how many matrixes or hubs were used to make the 1932 dies, as bosox suggested some time ago...

More importantly, publish your results.

@ BmOney,

Your say : " I do not use the photos in charlton for near and far S, they don't look right to me. "

I agree with your comment and for my search ( result below ), I refer you to the following link :
http://numicanada.com/forum/viewtop...776&start=60
See, at the end of this page, the work of clownoses, 03/05/2010, 11:25 am.

I have investigated carefully some clear photos of Far 2 :
- 5 photos from numicanada.com
- 3 photos from coincommunity
- 8 photos from ebay.

I have seen that all these coins Far 2 have the same three characteristics :
1- 2 near 3
2- 2 near rim
3- S regular* to rim.

* = see ducument of clownoses.

I wait your commentaries on this.

Good reference photos by clownnose for 1922 and 1936.
Unfortunately, I can not understand all the French words used.

Coin Chick, thank you very much

With all new data from coincommunity and numicanada, the trend, for the 5 cents 1932 Far 2, is now :

32/3809= 0.84 %

za75 - When you started this thread, your stats showed 18/1430 (1.26%) were Far 2s. Since that point, 14/2379 (0.59%) have been Far 2s.

If the 1430 were randomly sampled, the chances of the next 2379 randomly sampled having 14 (or less) Far 2s in the lot is less than 1 in 1000. Any idea why this is? Did anyone in the first 1400 have a significant number of these coins, or do you think that in the 2400 since then, there's been repeats?

jg86 - You say : ".... randomly sampleed... ". These data where send voluntarly by members of coincommunity and numicanada, these data are not my samples ! .... No idea why this is ! Maybe in one or two years more.

You say too : " ... do you think that in the 2400 since then, there's been repeats ? " Seriously, and I am serious in this thread, I don't think thus !

@ BmOmey,

Following my post, 01/10/2013 and your post, 01/10/2013 :

clownoses present ( see the link ) with photos, 03/05/2010, three position of the S of CENTS, in relation with the rim :
- Near Rim
- Regular ( normal ) with Rim
- Far Rim.

No need of english word with this : the photos are better than Charlton's photos.

SPP-Ottawa said, in his post 01/08/2013 : " BmOney, sounds like the beginning of proper die study.....".
I think that my post 01/10/2013 is a step in this direction, no ?
