I finally got to check the one in my album - its a Near 2 - sorry no picture. I also know know I have at least one more, but I am not able to get to it at this time (I might have a few other extras also). When I can get to them, I will remember to check and post here - although I am not sure when that will be

Neat difference!
Perhaps my eyes are not what they use to be ... but from the various pictures provided...
It appears that along with the ... high-2 & low-2 ... there is also the ... high-93 & low-93 combinations to consider...
Could be wrong ... been known to happen : )...

cbu, don't confuse" Far Rim " and Near Rim ", for date and also for F and S, like we can see in Charlton and that are also repertoried in the trends of CCN, with the number 2, " Near leaf " and " Far leaf ".
The last ones are not repertoried in this book and journal : the variety of 5 cents 1932 " Far leaf " is rare.

za75;
Did not mention anything about F, S, Far-rim or Near-rim...
The pictures provided have lines drawn across from leaf-tip to leaf-tip and it appears to me that the 93 in the date is also lower and higher along with the 2...

cbu,
I have a 5 cents 1932 CCCS : F-12, " Near Rim, 2 Far from leaf ".
For me, le Near Rim is common but the 2 Far from leaf is rare for this coin.

za75 - I just bought four rolls of 1932 nickels to help with your data collection. I only found one far 2 of the 160 coins.

za75,
I can and others can also see that a great-effort has been placed into obtaining the stats that you have about this difference...
Is all your work towards this, in-hopes that this difference finds its way into certain coin reference publications one day ... or is the reasoning more complex?

Thank cbu,
I have seen the photo of the variety " Far 2 ", for the first time, 28/11/2009, on one topic " Variete 5 cents 1932 " of numicanada.com
Few days later, I found, in the book of Pierre Charest " Monnaies Canadiennes et leurs variétés ", edition 2007, that the prices was the same for the " Near 2 " and the " Far 2 " and I was intrigued by this....
This was the beginning of my search to see if one variety was rarest than the other....
This was also the beginning of my first statictic ( 01/12/2009 ) on this subject, with members of numicanada.com, members and dealers of ANPB ( in show ) and also with members of some sites.
I bought a 5 cents 1932 " Far 2 ", 05/12/2009, and I was very happy of this discovery.
I was and I am yet convinced that this type of discovery is very incentive for collectors and this was the motive to start these statistics.
I think also that this variety ( 5 cents 1932 Far 2 ) is not enough known, and these statistics, on four sites contribute to the promotion of this one.
I like errors and variety and I think that it is important to our hobby to present, with statistics, if possible, new varieties.

I went to my (GREAT!) "local" coin shop today (Hagerstown MD) with hopes they had some Canadian nickels - specifically maybe an old roll or two with 1932s in it. But, as I feared, their reply was "The only loose Canadian coins we deal in are silver, and we melt those" I used to live up in the NW corner of PA where coin shops normally had both US and Canadian coins- although even there the Canadian coins (unless very rare) were not laid out in trays like the US stuff was. But I always used to be able to get a number of pennies, nickels, dimes, etc. BTW za75 - add another Far 1932 to the count. I got a chance to see my second set today and it is a far . I know I have a small amount of spare George V's around somewhere also, but have no idea whether they are 1932s or not. When I eventually run into them I will do my best to remember to post the info. Now I REALLY wish I was back up near the border so I could have a better chance at hunting down one of these. The Canadian nickels (starting in 1922) are one of my favorite coin sets of all just b/c o the varieties of metals, shapes, design changes, et cetera.
