Can anyone tell me what this coin might be worth or what it's rarity is. I know that it is gold, minted by the Yugoslavian National Bank to commemorate Nikola Tesla. It has 3 gold marks, including the mark for Zagreb, Croatia. Thanks

I was wondering about those as well, flipcoin, and I believe that the coin was made that way, with that specific look in mind. I have tried to do some research on this, and I found one that was silver instead of gold here: http://yugoslavian.blogspot.com/200...a-tesla.html . It seems to have the same ragged edge as this one. The picture that I used is from the http://lainson.eu/NEWGOLD.htm and is featured at the bottom of the page. I contacted the owner, and he told me what he knew, most of which is on the web page, but he also is having a hard time finding information about this coin/medal. I also have this coin, but have no way of uploading a picture of mine at the moment because I have no camera available to me. I will upload one as soon as my camera is returned to me.

It is a medal, not a coin. It is struck with a bold medallic relief instead of the flatter relief used on coins. What is the diameter and weight?

I must say that this is one of the creepiest-looking things I've ever seen posted here - it looks like a death mask to me.

One thing, I wouldn't call it a coin. Probably a bullion round. Or a medal.

I've seen two coins commemorating N.Tesla, Yugoslavian 20 novi (new) dinara, and Serbian 20 dinara.

Welcome to the forum, tkd!

not allot of information about it that I can find online I did a Google search and the only one I found that looked like yours was on some website with someone selling one and this is the information given on it, but I don't know if its correct or not

Quote:
This medal is a rare find. It commemorates the life of Nikola Tesla, the famous Yugoslavian inventor, and is of typical Eastern European design.

The obverse has a cameo image of Tesla in relief. To the side are displayed the years of his birth and death. The reverse of the medal shows a dove above a stylised row of electrons, surrounded by Cyrillic script reading "Nikola Tesla Yugoslavia" and the minting year of 1976. With 3 gold marks, including the mark for Zagreb, Croatia.

This medal is supplied in a coin display card and plastic pouch.

Wow! That looks like a death mask cast. Do you suppose that is what they were going for on the design?
