Let's start with the fact that these NCLTs have more in common with coasters than coins. Will the stupid things even fit in a standard lock box? Most commems, even the old halves, have very little collector interest. Best plays: 1) get them at less than bullion value from a place forced to sell them for that 2) get them quickly and dump them before everyone has them 3) try for a high grade and dump them on suckers astute investors who think there's actually a difference between ms68 and ms69 4) get them and hope the price of silver goes up enough to make a profit For anyone who wants to get a peek at their future value, do an ebay search for Panama 20 balboa, which have $143 in scrap @ $37.10.

1.Collectors demand for 70's.
2.Dealers buying them for there own reasons.
3.The market sets the value.

Hey PQ, just got my set back from NGC, 1 69PL, 2 69s, & 2 68s, all regular label. Holy cow, a single slab is just slightly smaller than my iPad, can't imagine how I would store 56 of them? A bookcase, perhaps? I think if I buy these in the future I will leave them in airtites and roll them up. BF has a point, they will become impossible to store. As for these party-platter slabs, I am going to use them as cheese & cracker servers for my next function. At least they would make good conversation openers!

So the big question for me is. When I get mine from fideli, do I send them in to be graded?

That should depend on how they look ...obvious marks or other issues will cloud your decision...I have found that die polish marks do NOT affect the numerical grade I will say that I believe the graded pucks will be more marketable than the raw ones because it is a defined item with all the maybe's removed... I still have 2 sets that are still unopened and can't decide whether to take a peek or not....(and two already NGC graded)

Wish I knew APMEX was selling them for $860 shipped. Those couldn't have lasted long.

Quote:Wish I knew APMEX was selling them for $860 shipped. Those couldn't have lasted long. APMEX was the first AP to sell the sets on Dec. 3rd and sold 1000 sets at $1395 within 24 hours. Unfortunately they are the ones who started the firestorm about price gouging and eventually the Mint came out with the 1 per household rule and a max. price. APMEX had to cancel any orders over 1 set and ended up refunding the lucky 354 buyers of one set about $550 and shipped the sets out one per order. I was one of the 1st buyers on 12/3 They have not sold a set since the original 354 (at least to the public)

I didn't realize APMEX had to refund $550 on the sets they already sold. Wonder what they did with the rest of their allocation? They list them as sold out.

There seems to be quite a few 'missing' allocations from some to the distributors. Conspiracy theories?

***Let the fun begin, again! This article was originally printed in Numismatic News. http://numismaticnews.net/article/Ready_for_Getty/The 2011 5-ounce America the Beautiful silver bullion coin honoring Gettysburg National Military Park is slated to go on sale the end of April. It will be allocated to the U.S. Mint's list of Authorized Purchasers who can verify that they sold all of the 2010 five-coin ATB sets they received. But this time around, the AP's won't be limited in how many they can sell to one individual. That should get the coins into the hands of local dealers faster. "After the AP purchases the coins from the United States Mint, there will be no restrictions on sales in the secondary market," said Tom Jurkowsky, Mint director of public affairs. The actual cost of the coins has not yet been determined by the Mint, Jurkowsky said, but it will reflect the current market price of silver, which is now hovering around $36 an ounce. The Mint charged AP's a $9.75 premium per coin for the 2010 ATB bullion coins and limited the markup they could charge. Jurkowsky said the premium charged for the 2011 coins will be the same, but there will be no limit on markups for the 2011 coins. As for the numismatic versions of the 2010 ATB silver coins, Jurkowsky said the Mint is targeting the end of April for the sale of the first numismatic uncirculated coin featuring the Hot Springs National park design. There will 27,000 of those coins available directly from the Mint.
