Prudential still selling (total is $928, since the shipping is $65):

Yes, and the reason they still have them is a ridiculously complicated ordering and delivery system.

These were the folks who bought the Jackson refinery and ended up selling it back a few years later because they couldn't run it profitably. If this is any example of how they run their business, it's no wonder.

Hmmm...Hope it goes through then. I really don't want to pay too much of a premium. My fault for waiting so long.

Looks like the Mint hasn't sold out on the 2010-P Hot Springs 5 oz.

Quote:
As reported on Coin Update News, through April 28, 2011 at 9:00 PM ET, the US Mint had accepted more than 19,000 orders in total. This accounts for more than 70% of the total mintage of 27,000 coins.

Orders for the uncirculated coin while technically still 'available' are marked on hold. On another website, the estimate is that the mint has received 32,000 orders since noon yesterday, so the coin is probably sold out.

Not sure what you mean on hold? They have been listed as back ordered from the start.

My receipt says "backordered 5/12/11" after the quantity and price. On another person's receipt, who ordered this morning, it states "Your order is on hold." I read on another blog that the Mint is definitely going to oversell the issue, then comb out multiples, dupe addresses, etc. and come up with a wait list. Getting an order number doesn't automatically guarantee a coin.

My receipt I got in an Email says "backordered 5/12/11 but if I go to my order history on the mints website it says "your order is on hold" so I think depending which receipt you look at, it says two different things.

current melt is 483.10 @ 48.31 an oz for the two. APMEX is selling them for $573.50 check / $590.71 cc

so about 9 dollars over melt per oz if paying by check

$9 an ounce over melt is a really high price for bullion. It's not horribly bad for a collectors' edition of 30k, but not a real bargain even then.

The mint still has the 2010 numismatic versions for sale we are at a cross roads numismatic version series vs bullion version series.the ap's raised the price for the 2011 bullion versions & we have know idea on what the mintages will be on the 2011 numismatic versions both will be a pricey series to collect. Bizybackson-Neil-Silent are you guys going to go for it ?

Thinking about doing this tomorrow, but after I sent and e-mail somebody (Walter?) replied with a message for me to call him, and maaaaaaaaaaan, what a weird dude he was on the phone. Doesn't seem like the type of entity I'd want having all this info on me :/

Parks, I really don't know how much of a collection I'll make of these. I'll try to acquire all of the 2010 coins since there are only 60,000 of each design in both options (27k/33k). The mintages this year will be greater than last so there really isn't any hurry to get the 2011 bullion coins now. There should be sufficient inventory that they remain traded as strictly bullion pieces and not as numismatic items with a large premium. It will be pricy and difficult to collect both the collector version and the bullion pieces so I am waiting to receive the uncirculated Hot Springs coin to decide which I like better. The ATB 5 oz. set may end up collected like the First Spouse series, collectors only buying the ones that have an attractive design or some significance to the individual. This will be a difficult series to maintain year after year.
