Something else to consider is the order of the sections. In the scriptures clue #1 and #8 were missing. There are at the bottom right of the puzzle. They could have been intentionally omitted from the quote and are the authors name.
Of course, #1 starts with DGVFMHR, so it isn't as likely as I first thought. Just putting this out there in case any one else had any ideas.

I thought the first scripture that represented the sequence 1:1:1 (Genesis 1:1) was too well known so I skipped it. The 8th clue (8:8:8) was impossible to do since Ruth (the 8th book of the Bible) only has 4 chapters. So, again, I skipped it. Ergo, there are only #s 2,3,4,5,6,7,& 9 clues. So you can see there is nothing cryptic or intentionally omitted about this clue.

Technically, Moe is the first one to have the correct answer. He just didn't post it yet. And there is no way I (or anyone) could have solved it prior 2012 without his help. So I'd think he deserves the prize.
As for my input, I want to see it solved. I have been thinking out loud in an effort to assist others that may be working on it as well. I'd be just as happy if someone , anyone else came up with the correct answer. I just hate not knowing.
