Hello,

As the title indicates, I've inherited 7 Morgan dollars and a sizeable pile of other coins. I say pile, since this isn't really a coin collection, but rather a set of coins that were saved, somewhat arbitrarily, from a store that my great grandparents owned between the 1920s and 1970s.

My plan is to sell the coins, but before I approach a buyer, I was wondering if someone could take a look at the morgans I had. I see nothing particularly special that would make me think they had much more than a retail value of $30. However, I am no expert at coins (though I am an expert at old jeeps ... ewillys.com)

Below, I've included pics of the oldest Dollar I have, which is a 1879 Morgan. You can see and read more about the coins (and see much bigger images) at ***Edited by Staff - Please Review the rules that you agreed to when you registered. ***

to the Forum!

Can you show a closer picture of the date of your Morgan? (The 8 looks a bit squished?)

Thansk!

I have higher resolution pics of 5 of the 7 coins (front and back) on a webpage, but the posting system auto deleted that. PM me for that link.

Here is a closeup of the date (thanks for asking).

Coinstar: Good question. Because I'd rather have the money to spend on my hobby (old jeeps). And, I'm sure someone else would get more enjoyment out of these coins than I :-)

Thanks for posting the date. (Hey! Dad! Where's my coin inheritance?)

That looks like a nice MS-63 (or higher) 1879 Morgan!
