G'day, my camera's having a rest today. I'm not into NCLT, but here's the Australian circulation issues, with sailors or ships, that I can think of - the 1954~65 ten shilling note had sailor Matthew FLINDERS, but no ship; the 1954~65 five pound note had sailor Sir John FRANKLIN, but no ship; the 1954~65 ten pound note had sailor Arthur PHILLIP, but no ship; the KG5 one pound, reverse (Renniks R25 & thereabouts) had a landing party, with a boat and a ship in the background - I think that this represents 1770, rather than 1788 (I am happy to stand corrected on this).
In the decimal era, 1966~ ... - 1970 50-cent sailor COOK, but no ship; 1988 50-cent Bicentenary with tall ship - at last ! 1998 50-cent sailors BASS & FLINDERS, but no vessel (their voyage was in a very small craft). 2001 (a big year for Australian collectors) 20-cent Federation - Norfolk Island - the complicated design includes a small image of a tall ship.
Are there others ?
Peter

Svslav, what is the referance "Tristan da Cunha " to? My boy is named Tristan. Is it the designer of the coin or someone on the coin? Peter Thomas, thanks for the list. I cannot add to it but will look these coins up. WOLF

TDC is a part of St.Helena & Ascension & TDC, bunch of islands in South Atlantic, technically grouped with Africa. The circulation coinage there says just St.Helena & Ascention, but recently each group of islands, including TDC, started issuing NCLTs in their own name.

O.K. Svslav Thanks. You have a source for these? Now I have to pick up at least 3 of these. Especially with the name on it. WOLF

Here is the bicentennial 50c Peter was talking about. Silver proof version here, but this was a circulating coin as well and my favourite Australian modern commemorative coin.

Great .... Bobby told me what I was doing wrong with my photo posts ... sooooo ... hopefully back to the ships! 1920 Pilgrim ... PCGS MS66 CAC ... the good ship Mayflower. 1924 Huguenot ... PCGS MS66 ... the good ship Nieuw Nederland 1935 Hudson ... PCGS MS64 ... the good ship Half Moon. I get a chuckle out of Chester Beach version of the "Half Moon' shown at 10:00 ... I suppose he was astronomically challenged. 1936 Delaware ... PCGS MS66 ... the good ship Kalar Nyckel 1936 Long Island ... PCGS MS65 ... a ship with no name. Great thread so far .... I'm enjoying all the ships. David

More great coins. These are all awesome. My list keeps getting bigger and bigger. Wonder how hard some of these are to get now? WOLF

Some of the crowns I have had on my want list for several years. They are not that expensive relatively but they very rarely come up for sale.
