Ceylon62 Pillar of the Community United States 1285 Posts	Posted 03/20/2011 07:39 am I came across these in a BU rolls of 2010 P penny's. There is chip on Lincoln forehead (only found one). Then there is the chip on N along with some sort of die break type effect between CE in cent. I found around 6 of these in 4 BU rolls. Not sure what these are and wondering if this is common on the 2010 P Penny's. Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

If you find it on only ones coin in a OBW roll, that is usually the case. If it were on several in the roll then it could be a die issue. Depending on how many machines were running when this bin was being filled, you would find a mixed percentages of coins in that roll. Report this Post to the Staff

Ceylon62 Pillar of the Community United States 1285 Posts	Posted 03/20/2011 3:49 pm Richard, I opened 2 more rolls I had saved off from the same batch and found 4 other coins that have the chip in N (not sure if it's the proper terminology). "Most" of them have a "vain / strand" type effect in the hair (raised surface) (best I can explain it without proper pic equipment). Also the left side top of shield (when viewing) has a little bit of excess metal (pic attached of area affected). All of them also have the die crack / raised surface connecting CE in cent and it extends to left of C. One of the coins is rather pounced / thicker and extends further to the left than the others. Hoping someone with more knowledge than me runs into these and posts about it. What is a tummar? Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

A chip off the die near a device will make a raised area on the coins. When you find several of them in a roll, you are seeing die damage and this will continue as long as the die is used. They get worse with time, When bad enough, they replace the die. Report this Post to the Staff
