From my Colonial collection:

1766 Pitt Halfpenny - It was common in Colonial times to have worn these as medallions on their person.

I didn't buy this out of my drawer. HOWEVER. Yesterday I ran across a Zincoln that was literally, well . . . . the only word I can come up with is "imploding." Most of the zinc directly beneath the date was gone, and when I applied light pressure to the edges of the copper still hanging above it, they fell into the hole beneath. There were other blips and blobs on there, but that was the big one. It was like an ant-sized postapocalyptic building. Crazy.

So do you call that 1935 half a 1/3 dollar?

These are awesome.

That Halloween penny reminds me of a impressionist painting. Van Gogh?

The next two are why you should never store coins in a recessed ground safe built into a basement and forget about them.

here is my favorite. This is all self done. I was making coin rings so there are some failures in that (Proof 1992S quarter and the two half dollars)

zookr, I figured it was probably a pellet/bb gun. I've shot a few in my younger days, but never found them afterward. coincollector123, did you ever master the art? I've always wanted a 74 Half dollar as a ring. Looks like you have quite the pile of practice there!
Allez, I'm guessing that's moisture damage on those? What do you suppose happened to the cents? Maybe the dryer?

Well it is not mastered it yet. I need to practice some more. I can't get them to be straight but that will come with time.

Here is a 2005 bullion ASE that a hammer fell on (a few hundred times). It is now 2.3 inches in diameter instead of the original 1.6. The turned up edge makes it useful for holding little computer and camera screws so they don't get lost. You can still count the reeds.
