Quote: The yellow quarter is almost certainly from a vending machine or arcade game. We used to use them in the pinball machines when the machine took someone's money. That way we could easily pull them out to use again. On slow nights we would use them ourselves to play a game or two. I could imagine that except that this was on a yellow wood floor and the floor actually had the indentation from the coin in it. Maybe they get used for that too but I'm 90% confident this one got yellow from being pressed into the wood floor hundreds of times by metal wheeled teenagers lol.

52Raymo & Jaymon74, I agree with the two-headed coin... you can see the tool marks and that spot in the middle could be a weld/solder.
cursive, I agree with the possibility of that quarter having been used in a setting; that was one of my first thoughts. But 1) it's missing a crimp at 2 o'clock on the obverse, and 2) who would bother to do that to a beat up 1990 quarter? It looks like it was a bored kid playing with his dad's wire cutters in the garage on summer break. It's something I might have done when I was a kid, although I'd like to think I would have gone for symmetry and given it that final crimp. :)
Schwanke, For some reason, I really like that yellow quarter.
52Raymo, I like that 1909. How did you conserve/restore it?

Here is an ASE that has lived much of its life in a pocket with others of its kind.

I usually carry two silver half dollars in the watch pocket of my pants, one from 1955 for me and one from 1964 for my wife (birth years). Sometimes I like to add a couple of ASEs just for fun.

I will soon :D I have some pennies soaking in vinegar that had exposed zinc. The mass change is substantial, but there's more zinc left. I have to keep changing the acid because it all gets used up and stops the bubbly :P

I found a 1963 LMC with JFK's face stamped in the corner. It's in almost uncirculated condition, too! Anyone else have coins with stamps on them? I have also found LMCs with states stamped on them.
