Well, I was getting ready to send my 89 CC in to NGC for grading but when I got to the page to pay I couldn't pull the trigger on a $65 grading charge and another $15 to ship to them. Is it just me or does $80 sound like to much to encase a coin? I eventually want to sell/trade it to complete my registry set. UGH decisions

I personally wouldn't slab your 89CC if it was mine. It is what it is, a 89CC in Fine. I have a couple of them in basically the same grade and they will sell slabbed or not. At the shows around here they sell from about $800 to $950 depending on...GreySheet Ask price is $850...Any serious collector is in my opinion not going to care if this coin in this grade is slabbed or not!...Good Luck!

It's a VG10 at least, probably no more. I think it only has about a 50% of slabbing in a problem free slab. IMO there is a good chance they will call it improperly cleaned.

At least a VG10, probably a F12.

Man I would love it if it came back a VF or even a Fine. We will see the guys I showed it to at the show thought it was probably a 12 but they didn't they it had been cleaned.

Just curious- why is PCGS best if you are planning on selling a coin? I'm still new to collecting but have previously been under the impression that ANACS is the best for morgans. Thanks! Does anyone have a link to a thread that discusses the pros/cons of each grading service?

Cleaning is not too big a deal in this grade for a key date such as the 89-CC. Might drop it down to VG-10 price instead of F-12 but it will still be heavily sought after by collectors.

I don't know the mint mark seams very far right .

The right most C appears to touch the O in DOLLAR.

I looked at VAMworld and did not see a VAM that matched this coin.

I hope for your sake I am wrong.

I guess this is why I posted about the realitive value or the grade of the coin...as many note the current price you can sell it for and the true value of what you have...TPG prices...and YUK..the retail overpriced RedBook so many of you swear by....Just pick a coin,,any coin...and go pay RedBook prices, and go down the block and try to sell it...better yet go to the pawn shop, they will give you 20%...GET real...unless your willing to hold the coin and the collection for 20 years, you will see a profit for your collections,,even if someone degrades them for your desire to have someone evaluate you collections value...don't expect the returns today....

I think the key is never pay RedBook prices since they are inflated and bogus. Pay no more than gray sheet and be very skeptical of the grade any dealer gives a coin. As a general rule, knock at least one grade off the coin and always assume that an unslabbed coin is cleaned until proven otherwise through intense observation (10x magnification).
