To celebrate the end of the thirty year war, two coins for the prize of one.

First 1 speciedaler Norway Christian IV. 44mms and 29 grams.

Then 1/6 speciedaler Denmark Fredrik III. A square coin. 27mms and 4,87 grams.

Denmark and Norway were one kingdom at the time. Christian IV died in 1648 - so the Norwegian coin is older than the Danish one.

Great workmanship on the round 1648, and the square one is neat looking.

t360, why do I get the feeling you could keep this up for a long time all by yourself? Lovely coins Especially the 1647 appeals to me.

This is a Hungarian Taller. a Thaler, you might think, and correctly so - only they spelt it a little different. Another of my 40+ mms and ca 29 grams coins. I do love those big coins.

A very interesting group of coins. I seldom see anything this old at coin shows, especially in such nice condition!

Thanks! 17th century coins are hard to find at coin shows.
Even at the BayState show in Boston I don't see too many.

Anyone got a 1643? Should I post a 1643 or lay low for a while?
