Question About Melt Value On Silver?

danmc00 Valued Member United States 130 Posts	Posted 04/22/2011 10:19 am I have a couple of Morgans that look horrible. I was thinking about turning them in for melt to buy some that look decent. With silver over $46, what should I be able to get on a 90% coin? I assume I can't get what a troy ounce of silver is. Report this Post to the Staff

Worn coins less. $46.61 = silver price / ounce on Apr 21, 2011. .90 = silver % $4.3819 = copper price / pound on Apr 21, 2011. .10 = copper % 26.73 = total weight in grams .0321507466 = ounce/gram conversion factor Report this Post to the Staff

Even some coins with collectible value are being sold at the silver content prices. Now is the time were some are buying collecter coins basically at melt value. I bought the 2011 proof set last Friday for 67.95 and now the coins that are silver plus the face of the others is that value. Can't buy them now from the mint since the beginning of the week.
