I read somewhere that the first occurence of an investment bubble bursting involved tulips, I don't know...a long time ago. Isn't it ironic that this coins has a tulip on it?

Yeah it was one of the first well documented bubbles bursting... the run up and popping of a brisk trade in dutch tulip bulbs...

I watched two of these coins go through a bidding war on ebay ending May 4. One of them sold for $255 and the next one an hour later sold for $395.

Sasquatch coin, better get it while you can from the mint, would hate to pay ebay prices

Quote:Sasquatch coin, better get it while you can from the mint, would hate to pay ebay prices Mintage for the Sasquatch is "While Supplies Last" which means that the Mint can produce the coin until complete market saturation. Unlike the Venetian Ladybug, I believe the Sasquatch could sell well below Mint prices on the secondary market. I've always wondered why the larger 35mm size for those NCLT coins compared with the regular 23mm circulation quarters. If the Mint wanted to have a larger surface to work with then a better choice would have been a 36mm size dollar. IMO.

North of 49's predictions came true, ebay auctions are ending at North of $300 for one of these pimpled coins. I understand the appeal of the "first of its kind" but can't bring myself to want one. That doesn't mean I didn't buy any though :P $130 into $350 overnight, 270% increase isn't a bad deal at all

Personally, I like the coin. I bought 5 from the mint on pre-sale. A whole bunch of people are slamming the coin but on the flip side(Pardon the pun), they all wish they could have bought one or more. I dont get it!

I'm still not convinced - and waiting for mine. Thanks to my wife I would not have bought that coin. As the glue dries out I think the Ladybug will eventually fall off. Like most crystal coins BTW...
Time will tell.

Got a couple that I am now unloading on ebayNoticed that there is a very large variation in the glass ladybug between coins, some have disproportion spots, some are orange as oppose to red, some lob-sided... might keep one to keep the missus happy but, not too happy about the inconsistencies in quality

Inconsistencies in quality, or totally unique pieces? Those new coins with niobium in them are each unique. z

Quote: Noticed that there is a very large variation in the glass ladybug between coins Please correct me if I'm wrong ...but I believe these glass ladybugs were hand blown...So one would think no 2 are exactly alike...That is what makes it unique.
