Hi can someone tell me, what are the things are called that you get coins graded and put into. I have heard a few names but still a little unsure. PCGS? NCG?

I would like to know more about them.
Like what companies do them, and is there any in Australia.
How much is the cost to get coins done.

think you are talking about "slabs". Some TPG companies are listed at the definition, but I don't know prices or if there are some TPG in Australia. Someone that knows should be along.

There were a couple of attempts to start up a local TPG here, but they both shut down due to lack of support from local collectors. Australian collectors just aren't ready for slabs yet.

As for costs, the simple answer is, "it depends". It depends on how valuable the coin is (expensive coins cost more), how quickly you want your coins back (you can pay extra to join the express queue) and on whether you want any "bells and whistles", like a photograph taken of your coin. The three major US-based grading services - PCGS, NGC and ANACS - all have websites where their price lists can be found.

Being in Australia, you'll also have to pay shipping costs both ways.

Personally if I had a valuable coin worth slabbing I would be unwilling to send it overseas too risky with mail and all handling.
I'd rather keep it safely in my posession
