I was just thinking 1.5 years ago I offered two MGC PF70 $50.00 gold buffalo coins for sale. Did not care if I sold them was going to get silver anyway no one bought them.

Now I am sure glad I did not sell them

Perhaps you could sell them now and realise the profit.
Always, one to the criteria I consider when selling is:

'Do I have have a need for the money I receive to be spent elsewhere?'

If there is no need, don't sell now.

(I) was going to get silver anyway

Which was $16.67/oz. on Oct 29, 2009 NY close ("a year and a half ago") and $48.48/oz. on April 28, 2011 NY close.

Gold NY Close, for comparison:
October 29, 2009 = $1045.80
April 28, 2011 = $1535.80

Yep you're up roughly 50%. If you had been able to sell and buy silver you would have been up 200%

Just think of all the people that did run out and sell Gold or Silver coins for metal only a few years ago.

I'm one of them! Along about 2005 I invested $5000 in American Gold Eagles. Gold was around $432 at the time and I believe I got about 11 or 12 slabbed eagles. Can't remember exactly as I wasn't into coin collecting at all back then. Don't even remember the TPG. Sold em about a year later to a dealer. Needed the money. Wish I had that back!
