I had to take my wife to a community far enough away from home that we stayed in a motel, until the next day when I had to take her to hospital for major surgery. I then had to stay for a couple of days until she recovered enough to bring her home. BUT, while at the motel, I went to get a bottle of water from a pop vending machine. I put in a toonie, no water, no other choice for the wife, so I pushed the button for coin return. The machine returned 8 quarters. What a surprise. Everytime I went past the machine, I would put a toonie in and push for water, no water, then return quarters. When I had several dollars of quarters, I would then recycle the quarters of no interest and get a whole new set of quarters. I did many trips past the machine. Here is a list of what I got.
3 - Mens gold hockey, one red, incused
1 - Womens gold hockey, red
4 - Cindy Klassen, no red
1 - pairs figure skating
2 - Bobsleigh
3 - Biathlon
2 - Cross Country skiing
1 - 2004 poppy
1 - 2002 Double date Canada Day
1 - 2000 Community
2 - 2006 Bravery

Maybe as you pass a machine, and there is an empty slot, one could just pop a toonie in and get a handful of beauties. One eight bundle gave me six keepers.

When I worked at a hotel doing the overnight shift, I used to bring a handfull of dollars with me every night and around 3am when everyone was sleeping and I had all my paperwork done I would go and cycle through quarters. I obtained 43/50 State Quarters this way as well as the entire 99, and 2000 collection. On some nights I would drain out the quarters from the machine just to see if there were any silver dimes, after draining the dimes I would go for any '64 and under nickels :)
