I still would like to see a picture of the safe if you got to take one before you sold it.

I do want to say that as you are discovering all of the coins that you are finding, I would recommend not telling anyone who does not need to know about your coin collection. Worst case scenario, as you keep telling others about your findings, there is a possibility of someone discovering where the coins are located and may attempt a robbery of the coins. So please be careful and just do not mention these coins to anyone (in person) for the time being until you are much more educated in these coins.

I really look forward to seeing what these bring if and when you decide to sell them. It's a fantastic story.

Yes, you're much more likely to get an honest appraisal here than from a dealer. They can be slimey, sometimes.

Sorry I tried to get you a picture of the safe. The guy who bought it from us already sold it to his client. My dad emailed him requesting a picture so no go!
Going through some more of the coins we found some gold coins...a good handful of them. We had each coin appraised at $1500-4500...lol and no I'm not even joking. We moved a lot of the stuff that was worth anything significant into safety deposit boxes at a bank. I mean, we just can't keep stuff like that around the house. I have kids and I don't want to lure any sort of trouble as someone above suggested could happen...so we got a security system for our house too!
Last night I was going through some more boxes and I found some medals. Some medals that completely took me off guard. German (nazi?) medals that date around 1938 and 1939. Where on earth would he get those from? I know he didnt serve on the German side...so is it off dead soldiers or prisoners or something? I dont know why but I feel kind of weird having these medals....almost offensive. And there is no questioning what they are...they have swastika symbols on some of them (most of them)
I can provide pictures if you guys want to see them. I realy dont want them around my house to be quite honest. Is it wrong to think like that? Well if it is, I cant really help it :)

Not at all wrong to feel that way about the Nazi items. Some people won't deal with them at all, regardless of value. Some people buy them and destroy them. Others collect them for historical significance. If profiting off them really bothers you. I might suggets donating them to a museum or Holocaust society. I understand they may take them and use them for educational purposes. Just a thought

I say auction of the NAzi stuff and donate that money to whatever charity you like. You can then write off the donation on your taxes and you don't have to feel like you profited from the nazi's. Where are you gonna sell the gold at, hopefully here?

Actually these might be worth more then you think. Even if you don't like them
The top one is 1939 Bar to the Iron Cross Lapel Pin The one on the right is known as an Iron Cross The center one is Ostvolk Decoration for Bravery on the Eastern Front (silver) The left one is a Honor Cross or Mother's Cross (Honor cross is silver, Mother's is gold)
The bottom one is War Merit Medal
*edit* found the bottom one

I, too, am sorry for your loss, Crystal. That's an awesome find though, as you can see everyone drooling over this discovery! One note, if it hasn't already been mentioned, the picture with the Shoppers prescription bottle may have sensitive information on it (name or address, etc.). I read you've moved most to a safety deposit box, which is great.
Have fun with the collection!
