One of 2010 p Hot springs coins I purchased from the mint has raised areas not part of the design. Would these be die gouges or some sort of struck through error? Any premium expected?
This is more to do with the finish (excess) used on these coins. I had posted one below where on mine it looked like the rim was scratched (less finish) but it's NOT scratched.
I took my ATB to the best dealer I know of in the area and he told me he thought it was lamination since it appeared to him that the raised areas were actually tiny air pockets within the metal of the coin. Off to ANACS it goes.
