Seriously what do you vetrans think: What will the average 20th Anniversary set grade?
This is insane. Why can't these people just order from the US Mint and wait a month, then pay a small(in comparison to these bids) fee to have their coins graded by NGC or PCGS?
I'm considering having one of my sets graded by PCGS. Anyone know how much it will cost to get the 3 coins graded?

I bought a gold set about a month ago off ebay and am considering having them graded. But, it was opened, so I know I will only get the 20th anniversary sticker for the reverse proof. Is it worth getting them graded, or should I just leave the set as it is? I am torn on this one. Same with my 20th anniversary gold and silver set. I didn't realize what it was until I opened it! AGH!! But I order a couple more, so I won't open them when I get them. They are all very beautiful coins, though. I will not open the ASE sets when they get here, though. I've learned.......

Personally, I'd keep the gold set raw. I don't think I'd buy a graded set if all the labels didn't match. But that's just my personal taste. I have a raw set and a graded set.

What do you mean that if you have them graded you will only get the sticker for the reverse proof?

Because the box is opened from when they were shipped from the mint, NGC and PCGS will not put the 20th anniversary sticker on the slabs other than the reverse proof since the proof and uncirculated coins can be purchased separately and there is no proof that the three coins came as a set. If you send the the unopened set, then you will get them all graded with the 20th anniversary sticker on them.

Ok thanks for explaining that. So I ordered 2 sets. When I open the box they are shipped in, will the 2 sets still be sealed, as in are they in their own individual containers? Because I only want to get one set graded, graded with the 20th anniversary sticker that is...

I'm not sure on that. I'd call the mint and ask them how they ship them, or go to the NGC or PCGS websites and search for their criteria. There must be a way to keep one set and still have the other unopened, but I'm not sure. I read somewhere on ebay that if they come in two set boxes you can't open the box at all.

I know that when I ordered my 3 silver sets, they were not individually boxed within the box. Once I opened the box that arrived from the mint, my chance of getting them certified was gone. I wasn't to worried about it. I prefer them raw but I have a feeling that your gold sets might arrive the same way. I only ordered one gold set so there was not a box within a box issue to deal with.

Looks like I'd have to call the mint and have the sets shipped separate, if I want to have one set graded. Watch me go through all the trouble of having a set graded then get MS-68. Maybe I'll just keep the sets how they are.

I guess it depends on who you send it to. PCGS seems to me tighter on their grading than NGC, but who knows. I haven't seen many 68 grades on these sets, though. The quality seem to be pretty high.

Buy a couple sets now and save them, and in 5-10 years sell a few off on ebay and laugh all the way to the bank. The Reverse Proof is going to be the second lowest minted coin the the ASE series. My 2 sets still have not shipped. IF I had an extra 800.00, I'd buy 8 more sets. Sell them in 10 years and send my kid to college or buy a new car:)
