for the most part, banks welcome dumps. especially in this day and age, when banks are cutting branches left and right. the dump deposit adds to their monetary intake, a necessary service to show that the branch is viable and needed. it shows the corporate office that they provide a much needed service. a deposit, ANY deposit is a positive for a bank.

True for the banks themselves, but the little old lady tellers get this pained look in their eye when I bring in two heavy boxes of nickels. :)

Ok, I don't normally feel the need to publish my finds, but this last box was awesome (by my standards). I only keep nickels that I find through 1945 ... I find so many between 1946 and 1959 that it would cost me a small fortune to collect them. I knew it would be a good box when I saw the date stamp from Brinks was from 2008.

1904 - Liberty (very, very poor condition, but I'll take what I can get!)
1939 - 1
1940 - 7
1941 - 6
1943P - 1
1945P - 1
1945S - 2

I also had a number of upgrades for my Dansco album. What was most interesting about this box (other than four silver nickels) was that there were no foreign coins in it. That makes three boxes in a row without any foreign coins. I should probably think this is a good thing ... but I love the thrill of finding some weird coin and sleuthing around to find its source.

I picked up 20 rolls today, mostly because I could not find a bank that would give me a whole box. About 1/2 of it was 2011 P's. Hardly any pre-60's! On the other hand, I finally pulled a Buffalo after a long drought. After $40 more worth of nickels (1120 total rolls) My finds are as follows....

I would like to welcome jgray44 to the forum, it is a bit late but I have a feeling you are a bit new to collecting. Please keep involved here and you will learn plenty. I am sending you a PM.
From your list I have found that 1954 Phila nickels are somewhat unusual to find and on the 1954 D, don't go nuts looking, but you might find a D over S. You don't find 1952 nickels everyday anymore either.
Condition of the coins you are finding makes a big difference and the quality of the strike details.
Keep at it, we will help you.

PS: I just noticed you don't have an option to PM yet on your profile. PM me if you are able or when you get enough posts PM me if I get sidetracked and forget. I have something for you.

Wow, I guess in this day and age it most people are rolling up there piggy banks for cash money from the bank. I have done that but I search mine first. I am amazed that some of you are finding buffalo's pre 38 in circulation/ rolls. I am amazed at the Liberty nickel find. I am going to try my hand a jfk rolls first.

Too many things I want to try and search.
