Radarcoin, I have not checked yet, but I will! I looked it up and it seems they are worth a minimum of $3.50 in G condition. They are in fact considered rare but have not gained much value yet. Give it time....

Looking through a box yesterday, I found a 2000 Guatemalan 10-centavo piece, a 1969 Bahamian nickel, and a 1-baht coin from Thailand.

They're interesting ... but I'd prefer hole-fillers or other keepers. I only save nickels through 1945, so I only walked away with five or six keepers. What can I say ... ?

ancientcoinguy, you're getting pretty close to the complete set.

As I am currently experiencing, it only took about 15 boxes to get close.
Finding the 39DS, the 43D, and the 50D might take a lifetime

OK, did a slow box...took me a little over a week picking at it between other projects. Nothing older than 58 aside from one, a 43P. Also about 3'4 of the box were 2011P BU. Kept a few rolls of those. A couple semi keys. So not a complete waste.

Pretty dismal box. No silver, buffalos, V's, or proofs. Did I mention the small amount of pre-60's present?

It's fun watching your progress. I'm just into my 2nd ever box and have numerous holes... only 20 filled out of 65 from my '38-'61 Harris folder. Of course the '62-'95 is 100% complete. '96-Present I'm only missing '09P and '11P. From my 2nd box I've only been able to fill in a couple holes. The law of diminishing returns strikes again!

1 War Nickel, no foreign or anything else interesting.

Good luck in your quest!

And good luck in yours! It truly is addicting. I told myself when I started I would not make this a big thing of mine, but it has turned into a monster! [:o]

Thanks!

No sooner did I finish writing my last post than I went and did 10 more rolls. Of course I got my 2009P and 2011P (two 11P's, in fact) so I'm all caught up on that folder until the 2012s come out. :) I have the feeling that it's going to take a VERY long time to fill in the '38-'61 folder... :) At least it'll be fun doing it! I imagine myself doing a box every month or so; probably nothing too aggressive.

I'm already tired of seeing 1964's, by the way. :) Why did they mint so dang many of them?

Questions on your notation... what's the "(+[x])" next to your years/mint count? The number of that year/mm that you found in the latest batch? Also what's the average at the bottom? The avg per box of "key" dates and oddballs?

The (+x) is as you thought; the number I found in the latest batch. The average is a combination of pre-'60 Jefferson's, Buffalo's, and Liberty's (and 2009 Jefferson's). I just add up the total and divide that number by the amount of boxes searched to find the average. I try and do a box each week. Any more than that and I start getting self-conscious when I go to the bank to dump the 'rejects'.

I felt the same so I used to do a box every 2 weeks. I just don't care anymore and do 2 boxes a week. lol. I always felt awkward at my dump bank but they are friendly. I opened up to them about my coin collecting and they say they have many other roll searchers dump there. I dump every week now and they welcome me. Good luck hunting. I've finished 44 boxes now and lack 5 coins for the complete jefferson set.
