Hi all , Just wondering if anyone with a keen interest in coins from Gibraltar can give me some general information on the £5 silver stirling "Road to Victory coins". Each of them feature a scene from a key moment in WW2 such as the D-day landings, sinking of the Bismarck etc and have a red poppy below the image.
I have exhausted a few of my books and searched the internet, but cant seem to find basic info such as how many are in the series. I have seen a few on ebay for around £40 each, however it would be be nice to have abit of background info on them first. The coins I would imagine would look beautiful in a set, but does £40 sound abit too high for a 38.61mm stirling silver coin.
At an auction in february, this sold: Gibraltar. 2004-05 £5 Route to Victory set of 18 silver proofs FDC in Westminster box. (R) £160 Can't find a catalog listing for them though. Bob
