I am new to the hobby. We have jars full of coins that we have not yet rolled and took to the bank and I have been looking through them to see if anything cool pops out but I'm not sure what to look for. I'm starting to become interested in the coin collecting hobby. I have been reading about it on the internet as much as I could but would love to know any information you all might be willing to pass over. Anything certain I should be looking for? Right now I'm just going through spare change and no looking to buy any coins just yet. Any rare circulating coins that I should look for? Anything will be helpful. Thank you

Sorry, there just is not enough room here to answer all your questions but I am sure many will offer advice.
AS to what to look for would depend on many you have and how old are they. Valuable coins range in all dates. Some recent Lincolns are worth a lot while most are not. There were 1995 double die obverse minted and worth a few more cents then most others.
Your best bet is to go out and find a dealer near you or go online and buy some books, example being The Official Red Book for starters. Use the Internet to search coins as there are many qualified web sites that offer free information.

Hope this helps
Good luck on your new hobby

Welcome. I would agree^. You should sort the coins by denomination and start there. This way you can learn each series at a time. There are a lot of people here that are willing to help. This process can take quite some time so take it slow and ask specific questions. Best of luck.

Welcome aboard! I think if you just follow the threads as they come up, look st the really nice pics folks post, read the questions, answers, descriptions, banter, etc.., you'll quickly get a feel for what you like, and you'll be asking questions yourself in no time. When I log on, I hit the 'Last 100 Active' button at the top of the page to see all the latest, and I REFRESH that list every now and then. Give it a whirl, NOTHING to lose!

to the community.

If you are going through US coins, You should look for and put aside and cents before 1959 and any silver coins before 1964 to start.
